What does a typical private session look like?

All private sessions (in person or virtual) start with an assessment of personal goals and objectives (weight loss, strength improvement, sports performance improvement, movement correction, etc.) and baseline measurements based on those goals. We will also develop plans based on your desired timeframe and the number of sessions you would like to complete. Goals can be short term or long term. We will utilize all tools at our disposal to achieve those goals, most commonly: exercise/training programming, nutrition planning, training education, and movement correction techniques (manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education). Group performance training sessions generally establish a group goal (improved 5k time, strength in squatting, etc.). If additional direction and goal setting are needed, 1:1 performance training is recommended.

Do I need home fitness equipment for mobile training sessions?

No. GPT will provide some basic equipment for training purposes (dumbbells, bands, etc.). However, if you have equipment you would like to utilize, we are happy to incorporate that into your training program.

How are you different from a normal Physical Therapist?

Although I am clinically trained as an Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapist, my focus is health, wellness, and performance optimization. I utilize all skills at my disposal to achieve those goals, but I do not treat clinical injuries. If you have pain lasting longer than a few weeks that starts to severely limit function, I highly recommend following up with your primary care physician and/or local physical therapist to start an appropriate plan of care (covered by insurance) to address these problems.

How are you different from a Personal Trainer at a commercial gym?

My education as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) provides me with a very wide range of skills and techniques to optimize performance in all populations, as well as a deep understanding of the science behind all training mechanisms. As a result, I help you achieve optimal results and provide very specific and highly customized training.

Do you take health insurance?

No, as my services are solely focused on health, wellness, and performance optimization. However, some insurances allow for a wellness benefit or utilization of a Health Savings Account for this type of service. Check with your specific insurance if you feel this may be the case.

What do your digital programs look like?

Online training and nutrition programs are comprehensive programs designed to achieve specific goals and target specific deficits. These will be provided to you as a detailed PDF and tracking Excel spreadsheet upon purchase. Programs include exercise tutorials through our website.

Are nutrition plans included in training programs?

1:1 Performance Training sessions can include nutrition planning should the client request it. Some individuals prefer to follow other nutrition plans. Most digital training programs purchased on the site will provide general nutrition advice, but our specific nutrition programs will provide more in-depth information. Custom nutrition planning and tracking is available via GPT Platinum Membership. As always, if you have very specific nutrition needs, please consult with a registered dietician in your area.

What is your service area?

In-person service area  is the Greater Los Angeles Metro region (mobile sessions), at your desired location. Virtual sessions can be conducted anywhere. Please see the "Services" tab for map information.

What manual therapy/facilitation techniques do you utilize?

With the objective of movement and performance optimization, I generally utilize any of the following techniques: peripheral and spinal joint mobilization/manipulation, Instrument Aided Soft Tissue Mobilization, trigger point release, active release technique, cupping/myofascial decompression, Fascial Distortion Model, soft tissue mobilization, kinesiotaping, manual stretching, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, muscle energy techniques, and Theragun soft tissue mobilization. Please verify with your physician if these techniques are not indicated prior requesting them at a session.
